A workshop on “Reducing bushmeat poaching within Tanzania’s protected areas” was organized by the Universities of York and Sokoine University of Agriculture. The workshop was held at Lobo Wildlife Lodge in Serengeti National Park from December 13–15, 2022. It was a nationwide workshop to which stakeholders across the nation who involve in anti-poaching and anti-illegal wildlife trade were invited. Hillary Thomas Mrosso (Co-founder and communication manager) from the Tanzania Research and Conservation Organization (TRCO) presented information on the trafficking of illegal wildlife products (tusk, teeth, pangolin scales, bushmeat, etc) in the Ruaha landscape. Each participant shared their research on the illegal wildlife trade, their experiences with it, and their recommendations for further study and strategies to lessen Tanzanians’ use of unlawful bushmeat. We are pleased to see that TRCO is contributing to Tanzania’s wildlife preservation. Support TRCO’s conservation initiatives by getting in touch with us at info@trco.or.tz
